Brian Mulawka has a long history of working with the three things he is most passionate about: communications, politics and technology.
Brian started his professional life in Ottawa on Parliament Hill, working as the Legislative Assistant to an Alberta Member of Parliament. A few years later he went on to work as the Question Period Manager as part of the Deputy House Leader’s Office in the House of Commons for the Official Opposition.
Brian then moved back to Edmonton to start his own communications and political campaign consulting firm, first past the post. Brian and his partner for over ten years helped elected officials, political campaigns, companies and other organizations with a wide range of communications and campaign work.
Brian was tremendously fortunate to work with a wide range of clients as a communications consultant and a political campaign consultant / manager. Some of his clients included the Stephen Harper federal leadership campaign, the Dave Hancock provincial leadership campaign, as well as the campaigns of Deboarh Grey, Rona Ambrose, James Rajotte, Laurie Hawn, Senator Betty Unger, Tim Uppal and numerous others.
As part of first past the post Brian also worked with numerous corporate and organizational clients in a wide range of industries. His focus was on providing communications support, and often focusing on electronic communications – primarily websites and social media. This included developing websites for dozens of clients, including the Stockwell Day leadership campaign and the 2008 Alberta Progressive Conservative Party provincial campaign.
Along the way Brian also spent time as the National Affairs reporter with a national news magazine, covering primarily federal politics. He has also enjoyed being a part of and providing communications support for his family’s company, High Grade Homes.
Brian is currently with the Government of Alberta in a senior communications role.
He is married with two children and lives in Edmonton.
